Itinerary
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be transferred to the Springlands Hotel or similar for your overnight stay, where you will rest and prepare for your adventure.
Altitude: 2,200 m – 2,780 m Following breakfast, you will embark on a scenic 5-hour drive (approx. 120 km) to Londorosi Park Gate. This route offers excellent opportunities for spotting wildlife on Kilimanjaro’s Shira Plateau. From the gate, you’ll hike to Mti Mkubwa Camp, where you'll settle in for the evening with dinner.
Altitude: 2,780 m – 3,500 m After breakfast, the hike to Shira Camp 1 begins, taking approximately 4 to 5 hours. This section offers superb views of the Kibo volcano and the surrounding moorland, rich with large shrubs and wildflowers, perfect for acclimatization.
Altitude: 3,500 m – 3,840 m This short hike allows you to acclimatize further while enjoying the stunning landscape. After setting up camp, the remainder of the day is spent resting or exploring the surroundings.
Altitude: 3,840 m – 3,960 m On this challenging day, you will ascend to Lava Tower at 4,630 meters, a semi-desert and rocky terrain. After reaching Lava Tower, the descent to Barranco Camp (2 hours) offers the benefits of acclimatization while providing incredible photographic views of the Western Breach and Barranco Wall.
Altitude: 3,960 m – 4,035 m After breakfast, a short, steep climb up Barranco Wall leads to a series of ascents and descents before reaching Karanga Camp. Here, you will enjoy an acclimatization hike to further prepare for the summit attempt.
This day is spent resting and acclimatizing, with an optional hike towards Barafu Camp. This day allows you to adjust to higher altitudes, ensuring a better chance of reaching the summit.
Altitude: 4,035 m – 4,640 m You will ascend to Barafu Camp, a narrow ridge exposed to strong winds. Here, preparations are made for the summit attempt, ensuring your gear is ready, and you get some rest before your overnight climb to the peak.
Altitude: 4,640 m – 5,895 m – 3,090 m Your ascent begins in the early hours, reaching Stella Point at 5,685 meters before continuing to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters for a memorable sunrise. The descent to Mweka Camp offers a welcome rest before your return to Moshi.
Altitude: 3,090 m – 1,650 m Following breakfast, the descent continues to Mweka Gate, where you will be transferred back to Springlands Hotel for a well-deserved hot lunch, shower, and celebration of your accomplishment. You will receive your summit certificates based on your achievement.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight home, marking the end of your unforgettable Kilimanjaro adventure.
